With Ordinance 18-6 now taking effect, the temporary moratorium requires Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) to strictly enforce the City’s Land Use Ordinance (LUO) and pursue post-construction inspections for complaints about construction alterations and illegal uses of large residential structures.

Last month, the Council considered the City administration’s revenue bills for the upcoming fiscal year. I have received many comments from constituents regarding Bill 19 (text available at https://bit.ly/2Jvv8DH) which authorizes fees for City-provided refuse collection service for multi-family, ADU/related residences and nonprofit organizations, and appointment-based bulky item collection.

During the past six months, my staff and I have received more complaints about excessive noise on Chinatown streets, sometimes from street festivals, from the recent traditional New Year’s blessing and fireworks on February 9, 208, or from activities associated with special event permits.
