In February, concerned Liliha residents alerted Senator Rhoads, Representative Ohno, and me to several illegal gambling and gaming houses in Liliha. A Request for Investigation and Services Report for a suspected gambling site at 1862 Liliha Street (Mauka/Ewa corner of the Liliha Street/ Kunawai Lane intersection) requested immediate HPD investigation and enforcement action.
I am happy to report that the HPD Narcotics/Vice Division took quick action on the illegal gaming house at 1862 Liliha Street last month. It was reported to be a significant bust, with HPD loading at least two moving trucks’worth of large arcade games. HPD also arrested four individuals on charges of promoting gambling, possession of gambling equipment, and criminal contempt.
Mahalo to alert neighbors and community stakeholders! My legislative colleagues and I continue to work with HPD officers to halt other illegal gaming and gambling sites throughout Liliha. If you suspect illegal activities in your community, please report it directly to HPD (911) for enforcement.
