In February, I attended Kalihi-Palama Health Center (KPHC) Downtown Clinic’s celebration of a decade of providing health and social services to the Downtown-Chinatown community. Since 2008, this clinic has provided quality medical and dental care services to Downtown/Chinatown residents and business people, assisting thousands of residents each year.
Dr. Emanuel Kintu’s creative leadership at the helm of KPHC, and his “can-do” board and staff members have created a respectful and culturally- sensitive medical center within a busy downtown neighborhood. KHPC is also a key partner in the H4 medical triage program being established in the Kuwili Street hygiene center in Iwilei. KPHC’s close proximity to HPD’s HELP program being set up in the City’s Dan Liu Building strengthens existing community networks of support for chronic homeless clients with non-emergency medical needs.
