This month marks the beginning of Earth Month, when volunteers around Oahu can participate in various community cleanup events throughout April. To observe this event, the City Department of Facility Maintenance Storm Water Quality Branch is working with community members through the Adopt-A-Block and Adopt-A-Stream programs to coordinate several stream cleaning events throughout the island.
The Adopt-A-Block and Adopt-A-Stream programs provide simple steps residents can take to improve the quality of Oahu’s streams and environment. Through these programs, volunteers coordinate cleanups of their designated portion of the stream, clearing trash, overgrowth, and water pollutants from the stream. Please consider volunteering for these programs and become an environmental hero for your community!
Please contact the Storm Water Quality Branch at 768-3248 if you would like more information about these volunteer programs, or visit http://www.honolulu.gov/dfmswq/get-involved.html if you would like to know how to get involved in events in your community.
