Last week’s fire and rush-hour traffic gridlock near the First Assembly of God property underscored the need for traffic solutions for Moanalua Village and Red Hill motorists. Moanalua Village is located at the end of Moanalualani Place, and during bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions, there are no available ingress/egress points for ambulances or fire trucks to use.
To address the lack of emergency vehicle access to/from this area, I am seeking an evaluation of the feasibility of establishing an emergency bypass road between the Kaiser Hospital parking lot and Moanalualani Place. The proposed CD2 amendment to Bill 15, CD1, provides $400,000 for plans and design for the emergency bypass road. The proposal will be considered during the Special Budget Committee meeting on May 10-11, 2016.
