Recently, Moanalua Village residents complained about upcoming grading work for the Moanalua Hillside Apartments (MHA) project, which may allow the project’s construction and grading contractor to utilize on-street parking on Moanalualani Place. Because employees of Plaza at Moanalua, First Assembly of God, Kaiser Hospital and area residents compete heavily for limited on-street parking, residents are apprehensive about increased parking pressure upon this heavily-used roadway.
Department of Transportation Services (DTS) Director Formby reported that his department has not issued a permit for street usage to Unlimited Construction Services, the contractor for this project. DTS and DPP are now requiring the contractor to submit a Construction Management Plan before any permit applications are considered. DTS and DPP could also require the contractor to park vehicles and receive deliveries within MHA property so that on-street parking is retained for residents and other members of the public.
