Congratulations to the Kalihi Kai Warrior Bots for receiving the 2nd Place Performance Award at the 2015 Hawaii First Lego League state championships! The First Lego League is a competition where elementary students worldwide build semi-autonomous robots and create project presentations that address the year’s overall theme. This year, the theme was “Trash Trek”, and the Kalihi Kai students presented a possible solution to reducing landfill use and alternative energy by recycling bottle caps into fuel, rather than ending up in landfills.
My staff was able to present each student with a certificate of commendation at their quarterly awards assembly on January 20th, in recognition of their stellar achievements. Congratulations again to all of the students and to coaches Mike Tawata and Malia Kaku for their achievements at this year’s state championships, and best of luck going forward!
