We have received many complaints about the City contractor’s Kuakini Street Extension project delays due to constant stoppages. With the March 16th deadline for completion fast approaching, we have been concerned about the slow pace of the work.
The contractor is currently installing a new drain line that runs under the roadway, which will be followed by installation of a retaining wall on the Mauka side of the street and conduits for street lighting. This work will be followed by curb and gutter installation, and intersection improvements to tie into existing traffic signals. If the contractor does not finish this project by March 16th, the contractor is responsible for paying liquidated damages for each day the project is overdue.
